I know I'm a little biased, but I think he's pretty cute, especially with the missing tooth. Makes me want to go and get his portrait taken, so I'll always have this moment frozen in time. He's such a love bug, always wanting me to snuggle with him and never turning down a hug. I know when he's a teenager and has all of his teeth {I hope!}, he will have more important things to do with his friends. I don't want to think about that yet though.
This is actually his 3rd lost tooth, and I have to share with you the Tooth Fairy conversation that we had. I was very excited to make him a little tooth pillow and do the whole Tooth Fairy thing.....
Me: Honey, now you know there is a Tooth Fairy, right?
Him: Who's that?
Me: Well, when you lose a tooth, you put it under your pillow when you go to bed, and she will come while you're asleep, take your tooth and leave you some coins.
Him: {staring off in deep thought about this new knowledge.} Mama, I think I have enough coins in my piggy bank. I'm not selling my tooth to the Tooth Fairy. I want to keep it.
I laughed and laughed at this. I guess I had never thought about it that way. You leave the T.F. your tooth, and she leaves you some money. It's a sales transaction. And he would rather keep his precious tooth that he wiggled back and forth for days and pulled out himself. I still laugh at this. Obvioulsy, I was much more excited about the Tooth Fairy than he was!
So, he's got a small round tin with 3 teeth in it now. Carries it around like a prize, keeping it high on a shelf away from his little brother.
I wish he would stay 5 forever.
Thanks for the bright spot in my day,,,kids can just make you howl,,,he's a sweetie!

oh that is SO adorable! He's beautiful Andrea :)
I didn't realise how much he looks like a boy Leroy goes to school with, they could almost be twins!
We've had several tooth fairy conversations lately, last week Leroy lost his 6th tooth. Did you know Leroy's tooth fairy's name is Anastasia? She confirmed it when he wrote her a note asking if that was her name
Love how they're all snuggly and huggy now, and I hope it stays this way too :) xo

What A sweet post!!! And what a prize you have in your kiddo's!!
Yes ~ if ONLY they could stay so sweet and little forever!!!
And not to worry, I'm sure you'll find some other fabulous use for that pillow!!
Maybe it could become a place for the children to place their prayers!!
Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful day Andrea ~ Tricia

Priceless, Andrea! I would love to introduce your little guy to my little sweetheart who just turned six this week. She only has one wiggly tooth, but she's really excited about getting money for it when it comes out :)

So sweet!! We're just entering the tooth fairy years too:) Lowell is 6.5 and Chloe is 5 and we just had our first lost tooth!! Lowell lost his bottom front and was soooo excited about the tooth fairy. Funny how when I was a kid, we did get coins, but we also got to keep the tooth. Enjoy these times. I want my kiddos to stay this age forever too. Sigh.....
Hope you're doing well, Andrea. I think of you often with your wee one on the way.
Take care
Kari

I just wanted to say that my two boys who are 16 and 18 and have friends and girfriends still hug me, call me, and keep me in their loop. As long as you bring them up with love nothing will ever change that. Your work inspires me too btw. Happiness to you, Donna

So darling Andrea. My son, Lev, is 25 now. (!) He knocked both of his front teeth out when he was little, and I did have a black and white portrait taken. It is my favorite photo of him. (luckily...they were baby teeth, and his front teeth are his own!) I think it is a great idea to have Mario's portrait taken. Or frame this one!

what a great story. I was delighted to get my hubby's bronzed baby shoe. Inside it, my MIL, who has recently passed, saved his baby teeth. It was so touching

Smart boy, holding out for the real legacy items. :) My son recently reminded me of what the Tooth Fairy does at his house when his two girls (now 7 and 10) lose teeth. The Fairy leaves clues instead of coins. When the girls were younger, the clues were part of an adventurous treasure map. It took over 2 years to have enough clues (loose teeth) to find the first treasure. Now the clues take them to lines in a book or poem that offer more clues and another time line. He jokes about how much time he spends developing the clues, but the girls love it.

Your boy is so sweet and handsome. I know how you feel. My boy is nine and I am lucky he still believes in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus. Treasure all these moments and take all the hugs you can. LOL

Such a smart boy! I am not looking forward to this. I have 3 about to go through this and I'm going to make Dad deal with it. Teeth stuff freaks me out :)

Too sweet! I have a photo of my little brother from about the same age: snaggle-toothed with an "i'm adorable" grin (and sporting a polka-dot bow tie, no less - lol). To this day, it remains one of my favorite pictures of him because it captures his childhood essence so well. Love that you recorded that snapshot of your little guy... theories on the tooth fairy and all.
