My baby Sam turns ONE on Thursday! We celebrated with a Dr. Seuss party at my parents' house in Ohio last weekend.
Look at the invitations my friend Hope made! Aren't they the cutest things ever? George and I spent the better part of an evening struggling to create the rhyming verse. Then, in about 5 mintues flat, Hope had the invitation done. I took the file to Kinko's the next day and had custom invitations in 15 minutes. Yay! Thank you Hope!
**Edited: It's been a year and a half since this post, and Hope and I continue to get emails almost weekly asking if we can re-make a similar invitation. Please do not contact us regarding these invitations. The images are Dr. Seuss copyrighted and cannot be sold. These were made as a gift, free of charge. Thank you for understanding.
As you can see, it was all very Seuss-y. We made Green Eggs.
And ham. {though not green.....I didn't think that would go over too well.}
I didn't go too crazy with decorations but there were fun Dr. Seuss things here and there.
And a Cat in the Hat cake!
Sam loved his cake and cried when we finally decided to take it away. {this was after he ate a LOT of cake}. He's got a sweet tooth like his mama, it seems.
I cut out and glued the felt number "1" on this hat, which Geoge pointed out looks more gangster than Seuss. Now that I look at it.....maybe he's right. {laughing}
The original Sam I Am was there too.
I'm actually sad that he's already a year old. Where does the time go? It feels like I just came home from the hospital with him, and now here he is a whole year later smashing cake all over his soft little face. Still my baby, just bigger.
Happy Birthday my sweet Sam!
The party is over,
The pictures are done,
How perfect a party,
For fun Sam who is one.

That is so cute! I have a Sam too, but he'll be 12, so I don't think that party theme would go over well LOL You did a great job with your party, and that little guy is adorable!

What a great party idea! Little Sam looks so festive and happy. Isn't it great to be able to stuff loads of cake in your mouth...life is so beautiful at this age. The first year is just magical. The poem and Hope's invitations are darling. Great job!
