Step 1: Mix flour & salt. Cut in shortening, then slowly sprinkle water to achieve desired consistency.
Step 2: Prepare filling. Pour it in the pie shell and bake {after you cut out little leaves}
Step 3: Roll out extra dough and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll it up and cut into 1/2" pieces and bake.
Step 4: Have a very happy husband!
My baby Sam turns ONE on Thursday! We celebrated with a Dr. Seuss party at my parents' house in Ohio last weekend.
Look at the invitations my friend Hope made! Aren't they the cutest things ever? George and I spent the better part of an evening struggling to create the rhyming verse. Then, in about 5 mintues flat, Hope had the invitation done. I took the file to Kinko's the next day and had custom invitations in 15 minutes. Yay! Thank you Hope!

I didn't go too crazy with decorations but there were fun Dr. Seuss things here and there.

Sam loved his cake and cried when we finally decided to take it away. {this was after he ate a LOT of cake}. He's got a sweet tooth like his mama, it seems.
I cut out and glued the felt number "1" on this hat, which Geoge pointed out looks more gangster than Seuss. Now that I look at it.....maybe he's right. {laughing}

I'm actually sad that he's already a year old. Where does the time go? It feels like I just came home from the hospital with him, and now here he is a whole year later smashing cake all over his soft little face. Still my baby, just bigger.

I've been sorting through my jewelry boxes, and trying to {yet again} organize them and group things in a way that makes sense. This all started because I need to gather a few favorites for projects at Silver Bella. And also, I will be selling vintage jewelry {among many other things} at the Bella Market Faire! So, one thing has lead to another, and before I know it, the floor is covered with piles of jewelry and buttons and other old trinkets. Let's play!
Rhinestone buttons. {go to thrift stores and buy old clothes and cut them off!} You'd be surprised how many you can find sometimes.

Hello Friends! Just wanted to let you know that One Hundred Wishes is closed for a few weeks. I need some time to feather our nest and get some Holiday preparations under way.
Not to mention a little thing called Silver Bella will be here soon! Those goody boxes I'm preparing for all of the attendees aren't going to assemble themselves. I keep waiting for a fairy to come and wave her wand to get everything done for me....but she hasn't appeared yet! The thing is, I love making things and preparing packages and tying bows and all of that fun stuff. Love it to pieces. It's just that I haven't had the time to do it lately. I realize that 4th quarter is not exactly the time most retailers close their doors, but that is the beauty of being a one-girl show! I could've stayed open and been stressed out, but there's no fun in that. So, I decided to close shop for a little while, catch up and enjoy this process. I'll reopen with Holiday treasures for you after I return from Silver Bella {mid-November}.

I've been enjoying the beautiful Virginia Autumn and spending a little less time on the computer these days. Getting refreshed and recharged before the Holidays are in full swing. I will be closing the shop for a little while, and I'll let you know exactly when as soon as I decide. Time for a breather. Don't want life to pass me by as I sit in here packing up orders all evening and into the wee hours of the night. I am so grateful that business is good. But....once in a while, this girl needs a break.

We celebrated Mario's 4th birthday this past weekend. There were plenty of balloons.
And sweet friends.
They painted little pumpkins.
And spelled their names.

There was even a rainbow in the sky.
He wanted to release these balloons, which amazed me, as he usually keeps a tight grip on them.
They looked so pretty floating up in the sky, and he watched until they were completely out of site.
He had fun and is so happy when he talks about his party. Happy is all I wanted. It makes it all worthwhile. Now, in 2 weeks is Sam's 1st birthday. I sure wish they would stop growing....
I was able to get many of the new items uploaded today. It feels good to finally share these treasures with you. Listing new shop goodies is not my strong suit, and sometimes items sit here for weeks or months before I make the time to photograph and list them. It's a very time-consuming process as some of you know, and I am a procrastinator! I just am. There, I said it. But, alas, here they are!
These custom Prize Ribbons are something I've been working on for a while now, and to see them here is just so fun. I hope you like them as much as I do. Inspired by vintage horse show ribbons that I tend to hoard....I designed 5 different prize ribbons {for now} in pretty soft pastel shades. I was able to customize the buttons, and I'm over the moon with the way they turned out.
Here is the ONE HUNDRED WISHES ribbon on Miss Stella Pearl. {poor thing, she got used and abused during this photo session, let me tell ya}. I love the green and pink together on this one.
These 2 below, with the crown buttons, say "YOU ARE A PRIZE". I thought these would make cute gifts or more importantly, a little reminder to ourselves that each of us is a prize! A decorative affirmation if you will. {smile}

And here is the other design. These say "THE BIRTHDAY GIRL ~ MAKE A WISH". A fun thing to clip onto a gift or to surprise a friend with on her birthday. This design is also available in the light blue/cream combination.

Something I've been swooning over....The Olivia Rose Collection
Can I just say that I love these.
As soon as I first saw them, I knew I would be placing an order. Laura Dellaporta, a wonderfully kind and creative shop owner makes these by hand in her studio in Florida. The name she gave them, Olivia Rose, is her sweet daughter's name. Each rose is sculpted from clay {yet very light}, and layered with paints to create this rich patina. I can't even really explain it. They almost glow.
Since they are handmade and hand-painted, each rose varies slightly, but I'm telling you, they are all gorgeous. The necklaces are a silky hand-dyed French ribbon, and a little rhinestone is nestled in the center of each rose. Every time I wear mine, someone comments on how beautiful and unique it is.
So pretty all together like this!

Just a few more new things for today. These pale pink and aqua mercury glass caches can be found here. I love the look of mercury glass and don't see too much of it in pink and blue. A little twist on a favorite.
And, these buckles have been up for a couple weeks, but I keep forgetting to tell you. There is a round one and...
an oval one too! Something fun to secure a pretty ribbon around a gift.

I'm stumped, and I need your help.
So, here's the deal. I like to give interesting names to all of the ribbons in my shop. If the manufacturer calls it White, I try and give it a little twist and rename it White Sugar or Marshmallow....something along those lines. Something with some interest, ya know?
Well, I'm in a pickle over this new velvet ribbon color. I love the shade. It's green with an ever-so-slight bit of dingy grey or blue in it. It looks vintage, but it's not. It's soft, muted, and really quite pretty. But it's nameless. I cannot come up with anything!
