I thought I'd show you a little couldn't-be-simpler Autumn decorating project I did last week. I started with some plain artificial gourds from the craft shop.
Using a sponge brush, I brushed on a layer of Elmer's glue and sprinkled on some German glass glitter. I used three of the colors that I sell in my shop {Seashell Pink, Gilded, and Copper Blush. The Antique Bronze would look nice too.} Of course, you can use any color and kind of glitter you like.
Then I simply used a hot glue gun to adhere a single green velvet leaf near the stem of each gourd.
Next, I wrapped a green wire floral stem around a pencil to create the little curly-cues. I glued one to the base of the each gourd stem. Just a dab of hot glue is enough, but make sure to hold the wire in place until the glue sets.
To give my gourds a little more sparkle {as if they needed anymore}, I placed an old rhinestone bauble on the top of each one. I didn't even glue these down because I'll want to use them for something else someday. I just liked the way they looked on there.
That's it! Quick and easy. Instant Autumn decor!
Hi Andrea! I've been out-of-town and boy have I missed reading your blog:) So glad to be back...and just in time to try making some glittery gourds of my own. Thanks so much for sharing this idea!

I love these! I just bought a couple of fake white pumpkins and was going to just do white glitter on the top (like the frost is on the pumpkin), but now I'll have to get more and make some like yours - too cute!

They are so beautiful! ! I want one! I'd rather buy one than make one cause I don't have any of the fun stuff. Might you sell them at One Hundred Wishes? ? ? Ü

I predict a major increase in glass glitter sales at One Hundred Wishes. Simply gorgeous or is it "GOURDEOUS"...anyhoo I'm strolling over right now. One question, what craft store did you find your white gourds? I just bought some orange and brown ones at Michaels and painted them all cream.

They are so sweet and a perfect addition to a fall home... carrying you right from September to Thanksgiving. Can you imagine glittering large acorns in bronze and scattering them all together on a large ironstone platter? Oooh, I'm already plotting for a couple hostess gifts now. :D
Grazie mille! ~ a.

Beautiful! If you are wondering where to get the gourds~ I bought small white gourds that look similar and they were only $1 each at the Walmart Floral section.
