I never really set out to start a collection of things. But before I know it, I have. Case in point: vintage hair accessories. Having no daughters, you would have to wonder why I have all of these barrettes. I'm with ya...but I just love them, and they usually only require a little pocket change at flea markets, so it's hard to resist.
When we were "home" at Christmas time, I was chatting with my teenage and 21-year old cousins {did I ever tell you I have 37 first cousins....my grandma had 12 kids}. Well, anyway, we were chatting, and apparently wearing bobbie pins and little barrettes is "in" right now. My cousins had their bangs swept over to the side, secured with a bobbie pin, and I loved the look. So, I came home and sorted through the collection I never meant to collect....and look at all of these pretty little things I can wear!
These rhinestone ones {above} are the ones I'm wearing most often.
Oh, and this Mother of Pearl one, too. Love the shape.
I think the plastic pieces are sweet but maybe a little too precious.....not quite the look I'm going for. But how cute would these be for a little girl?
Cute.
Cuter.
Even cuter! Love this cowboy boot too.
I had them all clipped onto these velvet ribbons, hanging on my inspiration board, but I decided to put the ones I wear in a little dish on my dresser. Makes more sense than having to go to my craft room to get a barrette for my hair!
I've been organizing {does it ever end?} and have come across some other "unintentional" collections. I'll gather them up and take some pictures soon.
Here's to a good hair day!

oh, I think this unintentional collection is for that third little one you are meant to have!
Hope you are doing well!
xoxo, Tiffany

Well, as you know, I hven't a daughter in sight. However, Andres' hair is getting long enough again to require a barrette or two. Somehow, I don't think he'll go for it... lol...I just love them all...if I had some hair I would wear one or two!!! :)

Looks like you're set for the "in" crowd...love all those barrettes. I have 2 daughters who would never really let me "fix" their hair. Now my 13-yr-old is starting to wear barrettes again:)
P.S. I thought I had a lot of cousins (18 just on my mom's side...Gram had 7 kids)but you have double that!

I found your wonderful blog a couple of months ago and I think you're AMAZING. I love your sense of style and the inspiration I get from reading your post. LOVE these barrettes! They bring back fond memories of my childhood and seeing them makes me wish I would have kept mine. Keep up the great work!

Great collection! You have such good taste. Saw your heart collection in Somerset Life recently. A couple from your collection look like bakelite. ;)

I LOVE the umbrella barette and the one above it with white "beads". If only I'da known, I would've saved all my girls' barettes! They are precious.

Oh, I just love it when you post a picture of something I had totally forgotten about. I am 46 years old and I remember wearing barettes in my hair when I was little. I had one exactly like the peachy/pink plastic bow you pictured above. I haven't even thought about that in years, until I saw your sweet picture. Thanks for bringing back childhood memories.

Wow,
These barrettes bring back so many childhood memories! I remember wearing some barrettes like these when I was a kid. The ones they have today just don't have the same charm. Thanks for sharing your collection.

The girls here in Oklahoma have been sporting the baby clips too...way cute! Even though I am only 26, I think I have outgrown the cute clips. I am in love with that starfish clip!!!! How adorable would that be this summer or even better, on the beach!!! Love it!

Love these - my mom had one of the little pink hat barrettes (w/the blue and white flowers) and let me wear it when I was little...don't know where it is now!

That has to be one of the cutest collections I've ever seen...Thanks for the flashback too!

These look familiar from my past, esp. the pink bow. I don't recall wearing barettes back then, 'tho...maybe, I remember other classmates or my nieces wearing them.

Andrea, these just conjure up memories of myself brushing my daughters hair and clipping it back....
How many long years ago that was!
And now they are grown women...
Thanks for the memories!

These are so special! Being one who always seems to be in some state of growing out my bangs, I always wear a barette or bobby pin-this gives me a much better idea! The fact that they are affordable makes the collection even more fun. Thanks for sharing!
